Holland America Line cruise ships Volendam, Noordam, and Nieuw Amsterdam have reported to CDC number of passengers and crew being ill during July voyages.

Princess cruise ship Emerald Princess was diverted from its regular Alaskan voyage on Tuesday after a terrible tragedy on board. According to the news media, a woman was murdered by her husband after a domestic dispute. The victim is 39-year old Kristy Manzanares from Utah who together with her husband and three children was on a 7-day Alaska voyage on board Emerald Princess.

“With huge sadness and pain I’m notifying all Princess crew and friends that our dear friend and coworker Djordje Jankovic is dead...if anyone is interested in participating tomorrow on funeral it will be in his hometown Pale (Koran) at 15:00.” This was the sad message shared by Djordje's close friend and colleague.

Yesterday July 14, a middle aged couple who were visiting Dubrovnik on a cruise ship approached local shop owner. They kindly asked him if he could help them locate a picturesque little bay with brightly painted houses because they couldn’t find it. They show him a brochure of Dubrovnik with Celebrity Cruises logo on it which they got onboard the ship. The man just smiled and said I know where this place is, but it is in Italy.

A body believed to be the missing Brazilian crew member Simone Scheuer Sousa was found on a beach near Udine, Italy by the Port Captaincy. Italian media reports that the body was found on Sunday, July 2, and was in advanced stage of decomposition. According to investigation sources, the person had the same clothes Simone wore the night she disappeared. Now authorities are waiting for the DNA tests for final identification of the person.

Colombian coffee will now sail through the America, Europe, and the Caribbean thanks to Pullmantur and Juan Valdéz. The Spanish cruise line Pullmantur announced today signing of a strategic partnership with the Colombian coffee maker Juan Valdéz. The alliance with Juan Valdez consists of a two-year contract in which the company will be the exclusive supplier of coffee in all Pullmantur cruise ships which will be served in all venues onboard.
