Crew member who forced a miscarriage on Norwegian Dawn is released by court

A crew member which was arrested together with her partner in Bermuda on August 7, 2017, for causing her own miscarriage has been released by the Supreme Court. She and her partner, booth crew members of the cruise ship Norwegian Dawn walked free from the court in Bermuda yesterday, reports The Royal Gazette.

Costa Cruises first LNG vessel to be named Costa Smeralda

Costa Cruises revealed the name of its latest cruise ship, Costa Smeralda set to debut in October 2019. The news was announced during the steel cutting ceremony today at Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. Costa Smeralda will be the first vessel in Costa Cruises Fleet to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), the world’s cleanest burning fossil fuel. The vessel will exceed 180,000 gross tons with more than 2,600 staterooms for a total capacity of 6,600 passengers onboard.

Silversea to build $310 million cruise ship Silver Moon

The luxury cruise line Silversea and the Italian Shipbuilder Fincantieri have signed an agreement for a new 40,700 gross tons cruise ship named Silver Moon.

This new vessel will be twin ship of the Silver Muse, and will join the fleet in 2020.The contract signed between Silversea Cruises and Fincantieri has a value of about 310 million euros.

Cruise itineraries affected by the most powerful Hurricane Irma

With maximum sustained winds of 185 mph (295 kph), recorded by the U.S. National Hurricane Center, the Category 5 Hurricane Irma is feared to be the most catastrophic storm ever. On Wednesday the storm will hit Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti on Friday, and Cuba on Saturday before possibly reaching Florida over the weekend.
