Burst pipe floods several cabins on the Cruise Ship Sun Princess

A burst water pipe on the cruise ship Sun Princess has forced some guests out of their staterooms. The flooding happened on deck 11 as the ship was ready to set from Brisbane on a 4-Nights Australia Getaway Voyage. The water poured down from the ceiling in the corridor which caused flooding of approximately 10 cabins. A passenger onboard reported to 4BC radio that in a few minutes her cabin was under at least two inches of water.

NABU Report Claims Pollution from the Cruise Industry is Still Massive

A new report was released today by the German NGO NABU, claiming that despite the use of LNG fuel and new technologies to reduce emission, the pollution is still massive. Dietmar Oeliger, head of transport policy at NABU said, cruise operators are not transparent when saying that 23 cruise ships were operating in Europe with soot filters which reduce the pollution.

Cruise Ship Captain Gets Speeding Ticket in the Bay of Kotor

The Port State Control Authorities in Kotor, Montenegro issued a fine for the cruise ship MSC Musica and its Captain for ignoring the speed limit in the Bay of Kotor. This is not the first time this vessel has ignored the maximum speed limit say the port authorities. According to them this season the same ship has received five warnings for speeding.

Royal Caribbean Reveals New Quantum Ultra Ship - Spectrum of the Seas

Royal Caribbean launched a video revealing the new Cruise ship, Spectrum of the Seas, during the steel cutting ceremony at the German shipyard Meyer Werft. The company marked the official start of construction by cutting the first piece of steel for its new Quantum Ultra class ship. The next generation engineering marvel in the Royal Caribbean fleet will officially be named Spectrum of the Seas.

Royal Caribbean Crew Member Dies Onboard

A crew member died onboard Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas on July 30, 2017. Fellow crew member send to Crew Center the obituary to inform people of the passing of Naville Fernandes, from Goa, India. The sad news with the obituary was shared in the local newspaper in Goa. The death announcement says “Naville Fernandes -–Liberty (RCCL) expired onboard the ship. Funeral announcement will be made later”

William Shatner Letter to NCL CEO Frank Del Rio: Don’t Exploit Dolphins for Profit

William Shatner, the pop-culture icon, who famously portrayed Captain Kirk in Star Trek, has written a letter urging Norwegian Cruise Line CEO and organizers of Star Trek Cruise not to exploit dolphins for profit. Next year the annual Star Trek Cruise will take place on board Norwegian Jade. In fact there will be two cruises departing from Miami on January 5, and January 11, offering “swim with dolphins” programs as part of their port excursions in Costa Maya.
