Cruises aboard the Norwegian Joy between January 6 and February 10, 2024, have been canceled due to an extended dry dock refurbishment. Guests were notified by email that reads: "As part of our commitment to continually offer our guests outstanding vacation experiences around the world and to support a consistent product of world-class classes around the world our fleet, Norwegian Joi will undergo revitalization in early 2024."

According to a letter sent to crew, the company will adjust the current daily stateroom (turn-down) service provided to guests in all categories below a Suite level. Guests staying in Studio, Inside, Oceanview, Balcony, and Club Balcony Suite will receive once-daily stateroom service.

Two German cruise passengers were attacked in a violent robbery while sightseeing in Recife, Brazil, where their ship had docked. One of the passengers was stabbed in the head during the incident and was taken to a local hospital, G1 Globo reports.
On December 6, 2022, Norwegian Cruise Line announced the increase of daily services charges, which provide gratuities to key onboard crew members. In a letter sent to guests and travel agents the company said that starting January 1, 2023, will be making a nominal adjustment to the daily service charges.
