Norwegian Cruise Line is making an important change to help protect the environment by introducing new reusable serveware. This serveware, which looks like a bento box, is made from 50 percent recycled materials. It's designed to make room service more convenient for guests by replacing heavy plates and eliminating the need for plastic wrap.
The serveware is created by Drinique using a durable plastic called Eastman Tritan™ Renew. This plastic is made from hard-to-recycle waste, which helps keep trash out of landfills. The new serveware will first be available on the Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva ships, and by the end of 2024, it will be rolled out across all 19 ships in the NCL fleet.
"We're excited to work with NCL to help them meet their environmental goals," said Andrew Elliott, president of Drinique. "This new serveware will make dining easier for guests and reduce plastic waste."
NCL's senior vice president of Hotel Operations, Mark Kansley, added, "We are always looking for ways to reduce single-use plastics on our ships. This new serveware is another step towards making our cruises more eco-friendly while giving our guests a better experience."
This change is part of Norwegian Cruise Line's ongoing efforts to be more sustainable and reduce their impact on the environment.
