Crew Member Reports, NCL Fires Many Indian Employees

A crew member wishing to remain anonymous has sent us a message claiming that many Indian employees working for Norwegian Cruise Line have been fired by the company. The crew was terminated from their working positions after they finished regular contracts and without any particular reason received a letter by NCL  thanking them for their services. The crew member has sent us a copy of the so-called “Thank You Letter” signed by the Fleet Talent Management, which says:

Norwegian Breakaway Fails USPH Inspection

The cruise ship Norwegian Breakaway operated by Norwegian Cruise Line has failed the recent USPH inspection. The United States Public Health inspectors conducted an unannounced sanitation inspection on March 10, 2019, while the cruise ship was docked in New Orleans, Louisiana. After finding numerous violations the ship received a failing score of 84 points (score of 85 or below means the ship has failed the inspection).

Two Filipino Crew Members Severely Burned On Norwegian Escape

The US Coast Guard performed a medical rescue evacuation of two crewmembers who reportedly suffered from second-degree burns on the NCL cruise ship Norwegian Escape on Monday evening. A officer onboard contacted watchstanders at the Fifth District command center at 3:50 p.m. requesting an urgent medical evacuation of two Filipino crewmen, 25 and 26 years of age, who suffered burns caused by a fire in the engine room.

Norwegian Jade Cancels Voyage Due to Major Technical Issue

On Sunday, November 18, NCL cruise ship Norwegian Jade experienced major technical problems while in the port of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The vessel will not be able to continue the scheduled 10 days Caribbean cruise and all passengers will get a full refund. The captain has announced that due to mechanical issues all passengers will have to disembark and fly home by Tuesday. Norwegian Cruise Line will take care of the costs of airfare, and is providing a future cruise credit to all who are onboard.
