Carnival Cruise Line has once again shown its charitable side by donating $250,000 to aid organizations in support of their efforts on behalf of victims of the recent floods in Louisiana. Carnival Cruise Line will donate $125,000 and its parent company Carnival Corporation is matching that amount through its Carnival Foundation charitable arm. Recipients include the Save the Children, American Red Cross, and Louisiana Association of United Ways. In addition, Carnival guests departing on cruises from New Orleans will have the option to donate on board and Carnival crew are being encouraged to donate.
Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line said “Having homeported Carnival ships in Louisiana for more than two decades, we very much consider ourselves a part of the community and, therefore, it is extremely important to us to provide aid to support the tens of thousands of Louisiana residents who have been affected by these devastating floods.”
Carnival has operated from the Port of New Orleans since 1994. With Carnival Triumph and Carnival Dream, Carnival is the only cruise line operating two year-round ships. Since 2004 Carnival has embarked over 3 million passengers from New Orleans.
