Carnival Legend crew stepped into action this week after spotting a sailboat in distress while sailing from Galveston to Cozumel.

According to reports, the rescue at sea happened Tuesday night in the Gulf, when the ship’s crew noticed emergency flares coming from a nearby sailboat. Without hesitation, a rescue boat was launched to investigate.

What they found was a sailor stranded at sea with his cat, Dahlia.

Both were safely brought onboard, with crew members ensuring they were out of danger and properly cared for. The sailor was taken in by the ship’s medical team for evaluation, while Dahlia quickly became an unexpected but welcome guest onboard.

Details about the man’s identity have not been released, but the outcome could have been very different without the quick response from the crew.
