Bus Carrying Cruise Passengers Collides With Concrete Mixer in Greece

A cruise excursion in Greece took an unexpected turn this week after a tourist bus carrying cruise passengers was involved in a traffic accident on the island of Corfu.

According to Greek media reports, the accident happened Tuesday afternoon, May 26, in the Nissaki area of Corfu when a tourist bus collided with a concrete mixer truck. The bus was transporting passengers from a cruise ship visiting the island at the time of the incident.

Initial reports said no injuries were reported among passengers or drivers, though the crash caused concern for those on the bus. Passengers remained at the scene while authorities worked to clear the roadway and complete the necessary procedures following the collision.

Photos shared by local media showed visible damage to the left side of the bus.

Authorities temporarily stopped traffic in the area to allow emergency crews to safely remove the vehicles and restore traffic flow. Traffic later resumed without further issues.

Officials are now investigating the circumstances that led to the collision.

The reports did not identify which cruise ship the passengers came from. However, according to ship tracking data, the only cruise ship scheduled in Corfu that day was Viking Star.

The incident also renewed attention on road safety in busy tourist destinations during the peak cruise and summer travel season, when excursion buses and local traffic often share narrow island roads.
