Passengers aboard the Nidri Star 1, a ship offering day cruises to the Ionian Islands, experienced moments of sheer terror as a near-collision incident unfolded with the private mega yacht BLEU DE NÎMES. The Nidri Star 1, carrying approximately 480 passengers, was navigating its usual route when the BLEU DE NIMES, a massive 72.25-meter converted luxury motor yacht, appeared to be sailing directly toward them without slowing down or changing course.

As the BLEU DE NIMES approached panic quickly spread among the passengers of the Nidri Star 1. In a video captured by one of the passengers, the anxiety and terror on board were recorded. The footage reveals passengers frantically shouting at the approaching yacht, desperately pleading for it to slow down and change course.

The situation grew increasingly tense as the BLEU DE NIMES continued its approach, seemingly unaware of the possibile disaster. According to reports Nidri Star 1 had the right of way according to maritime rules, but neither vessel maneuvered until the very last moment. The captain of the Nidri Star 1 managed to avert disaster just seconds before a potentially catastrophic collision.

The Nidri Star 1, a 35-meter-long ship capable of carrying up to 500 passengers, was dwarfed by the BLEU DE NÎMES, which boasts a length of 72.25 meters. The BLEU DE NÎMES, originally a British Royal Navy degaussing ship, has been fully converted into a luxury yacht with accommodations for 28 guests and 23 crew members. Its imposing size and speed only added to the fear experienced by those on board the smaller cruise ship.

Thankfully, tragedy was avoided, but the incident has left many shaken and raised questions about maritime safety protocols and the responsibilities of those operating large vessels in crowded waters.
