Royal Caribbean International announced that 6,500 shipboard employees have been promoted to higher job positions this year alone, which represents 18,7% of the 34.831 crew members currently working on board the 26 vessels in operation. The company said in the "ROYAL Way crew Newsletter" that additional 1500 crew will be promoted by the end of 2022.
The Viking cruise ship Viking Star scored perfect 100 points on the recent unannounced USPH public health inspection. The inspection carried out by a sector of the US Center for Disease Control (CDC) took place on October 14, 2022, while the ship was in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Crew Center received a copy of the latest Vessel Sanitation Inspection Report stating that the Viking Star received a top score.

The unfinished mega cruise ship Global Dream, set to be the world’s biggest by capacity could be joining Disney Cruise Line. The German news agency NDR, reports that Disney Cruise Line has tied up a deal to buy the vessel, however, there has been no official confirmation.
Carnival Spirit officially kick-started the 2022-2023 Panama Canal cruise season this week, as it became the first cruise ship to pass through the iconic waterway. The cruise ship departed Seattle, Washington on September 20 for a 16-day voyage, during which the ship sailed along the Pacific coast to Mexico and Costa Rica. Carnival Spirit left the Pacific side of the Panama Canal on October 2nd and is now on its way to Miami.
Bermuda's Health Minister Kim Wilson said the mask requirements and travel regulations related to COVID-19 will be dropped this month.
As of Monday, October 3, masks will no longer be required in most indoor and outdoor public spaces, except in places such as healthcare facilities, nursing homes and prisons. They are no longer needed on public transport.
