The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended the search for the missing Holland America Line crew member who went overboard from the cruise ship ms Rotterdam, 20 miles south of Marathon. The search for the 33-year-old man has been suspended after covering over 538 square nautical miles, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

MSC Cruises Private Island to Temporarily Close for Renovation

MSC Cruises has announced the temporary closure of Ocean Cay, its private island in the Bahamas. The island will undergo extensive renovation and expansion from April 7th to May 22nd, 2024, in which there will be no ship calls. The temporary closure has led to the adjustment of over 30 cruises, with alternative destinations such as Nassau and Freeport. However, the anticipation grows for the end of May 2024, when Ocean Cay will resume its role as a key destination for the MSC Magnifica, MSC Meraviglia, MSC Seascape, and MSC Seashore.

MSC Cruise Ship Detained in Barcelona Due to Visa Issues

The cruise ship MSC Armonia, with approximately 1,500 passengers on board, is currently detained in the port of Barcelona. The detention is due to 69 Bolivian passengers being unable to disembark because of allegedly carrying invalid visas for entry into the Schengen area. The ship departed on 18 days’ voyage from Santos, Brazil with scheduled stops in several Mediterranean ports. The Spanish National Police are investigating the matter, on whether the cruise ship's operators were aware of the passengers' invalid documents.

Brazil's Federal Police Arrest Two People With 28 kg of Cocaine on Cruise Ship

Brazil's federal police arrested two individuals at the Port of Ilhéus for smuggling around 28 kg of cocaine on a cruise ship. The Federal Police reported that the duo had boarded the ship in Rio de Janeiro, heading towards Barcelona, Spain.


The apprehended individuals, a man and a woman, whose identities have not been disclosed, were discovered with the narcotics concealed within false compartments of four suitcases. This was during a luggage check that involved the use of a scanner (x-ray) and a detection dog.
