P&O Cruises Crew Member Dies in Nepal Airplane Crash

Submitted by kgnadmin on

We are sad to report that a crew member working for P&O Cruises, is among the passengers who died in a plane crash in Nepal on Sunday.

Yeti Airlines Flight 691 from Kathmandu to Pokhara carried 72 people, including P&O Cruises security officer Yamuna Gurugh. After completing her contract Yamuna disembarked from the cruise ship Britannia on Friday, and she was excited to make this trip back home to see her loved ones.

Her friends paid a tribute describing her as much loved by her colleagues and said she would be greatly missed.

“RIP Tributes to one of the security team member Yamuna Gurugh who died in a plane crash in Nepal. She was on her way back home for vacation from Britannia ship.may her soul rest in peace and god give strength to her family and 9 years old daughter and bless her with life far way better than what she dreamed of.”

The airplane crashed into a gorge 30 minutes after takeoff, about a mile away from the Pokhara International Airport, some 200km (125 miles) west of Kathmandu airport. Authorities said that no one survived the aircraft crash, which is the worst air disaster for the Himalayan nation in 30 years.

Fundraiser for the Yamuna Gurugh family

A GoFundMe effort was started for the family of Yamuna Gurugh, by Maria Cave who is running Supporting our Crew Friends Facebook group, to help with funeral costs and supporting Yamuna’s family.

“Sadly, Yamuna died in the Nepal plane crash at the weekend as she was returning home from her contract on P&O’s Britannia. Included in the family that she has left behind, is her 9 year old daughter.

Please help us raise money to help her family through the worst time of their lives.

All monies raised will be forwarded to Yamuna’s family to help with funeral costs and supporting her family. This will be done via P&O Cruises (Carnival U.K.).”

We ask the crew community as well as the cruise passengers to help the family with a small donation at the following link.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends. May her soul rest in peace.
