MSC Cruises will have a fleet of 25 cruise ships by 2026

MSC Cruises announced the expansion of its fleet with a fourth cruise ship order by the company. With three ships being simultaneously built in the shipyard at Saint Nazaire, the world’s largest privately owned cruise line announced the order of the fifth Meraviglia class vessel. The new order signed by MSC and STX France will be adding a 900 million euros investment from nearly 11,000 million already announced by the shipping company in its ten-year investment plan.

Contractor arrested for stealing thousands of dollars in goods from cruise ship gift shop

The Italian Police arrested a man who was working as a contractor on the latest MSC cruise ship, MSC Seaview for a theft of merchandise worth 9.000 Dollars. The 30-year-old man, a Romanian national living in the Italian municipality of Ronchi dei Legionari was found in possession of the stolen goods, most of them brand watches, that he had stolen from one of the stores onboard MSC Seaview.

MSC Cruise Ship to Serve as a Floating Hotel for Tokyo Olympics

Sports fans during Tokyo Summer Olympic Games in 2020 will be housed on cruise ships announced Tokyo Metropolitan Government. For this purpose, Tokyo officials had already reached an agreement with the cruise line MSC Cruises for chartering their cruise ship “MSC Lirica”. From 24 July to 9 August 2020 this vessel will house some 2,000 guests in 1000 staterooms.

Crew Member Missing from MSC Seaside

U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a cruise ship crewmember who went missing around 1 a.m. on Wednesday. According to the reports the missing crew member is identified as Michael M. Majaba, age 37, of the Philippines. Majaba who was working as Casino Technician reportedly went overboard from deck seven of the MSC cruise ship MSC Seaside while the vessel was 8 nautical miles southeast of St. Thomas, U.S.

MSC Cruises raises more than 8 million Euros for UNICEF

MSC Cruises announced that they have raised over 8 million euros for UNICEF, thanks to the generous donations of guests sailing on their cruise ships. The funds raised are used to help children in Africa by providing ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF). To date, more than 6.5 million RUFT packages have already been distributed to children in Ethiopia, South Sudan, Somalia and Malawi.

MSC Cruises will pay $500.000 in damages after MSC Armonia crash into the pier in Roatan

The authorities of the Merchant Navy have finalized the damage evaluation to the Port of Roatan infrastructure caused by the crash of the cruise ship MSC Armonia. According to the newspaper El Heraldo, the Insurance company of MSC will have to pay 13 Million Honduran Lempira which equals around 550.000 US Dollars.
