Why It's So Risky Docking a Cruise Ship in Port?

Smithsonian Chanel released an interesting video showing how risky is to do a docking maneuver at the port of Ocho Rios, Jamaica. In the video captain of the cruise ship MSC Divina Pier Paolo Scala, explains what the challenges are during the docking of a large vessel. “It is very, very quick maneuver there, and we need to watch for the stern when we turn, that we are completely clear as we enter the starboard side.” Says Captain Scala.

Azamara to purchase third cruise ship in 2018

Azamara Club Cruises announced today that it has entered into an agreement to purchase the P&O cruise ship Adonia. The vessel is a sister ship to Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest, belonging to the same “R Class” ships of the former cruise company Renaissance. The new addition of Azamara fleet will be named  “Azamara Pursuit” joining the cruise line March 2018.

Disney Cruise Line will add three new cruise ships by 2023

Disney Cruise Line announced its seventh cruise ship at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, the event promoted by the official Disney Fan Club. Previously Disney announced the construction of two more vessels joining the fleet in 2021 and 2023 and with the latest announcement the family oriented cruise line will almost double its fleet with the current 4 ships in operation.

Once a while we find a crew member so inspiring with his/ her achievements that are almost unreal. We like to introduce Mr. Jophel Ybiosa, a photographer on Princess Cruises. However Jophel is not an ordinary photographer, he is an Internationally-awarded artist. He was recently awarded the 1st place in Moscow International Photo Awards for his entry titled "The Feast of Black Nazarene in Manila". This is the biggest photography competition in Russia and one of the biggest in the world.

Colombian coffee will now sail through the America, Europe, and the Caribbean thanks to Pullmantur and Juan Valdéz. The Spanish cruise line Pullmantur announced today signing of a strategic partnership with the Colombian coffee maker Juan Valdéz. The alliance with Juan Valdez consists of a two-year contract in which the company will be the exclusive supplier of coffee in all Pullmantur cruise ships which will be served in all venues onboard.
