Norwegian Cruise Line has signed an agreement to transfer two of its longtime Sun-class vessels — Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun — to Cordelia Cruises, India’s leading cruise line. The move, announced by Cordelia Cruises this week, will significantly expand the brand’s capacity in the region.
According to the agreement, Norwegian Sky will transfer in 2026, followed by Norwegian Sun in 2027.
The two ships, each with a gross tonnage of approximately 77,000, measure about 850 feet in length and accommodate roughly 2,000 guests and 900 crew members.
“We are thrilled to welcome these iconic vessels to the Cordelia fleet, building on the overwhelming success of Empress, which redefined cruise holidays for Indian travellers,” said Jurgen Bailom, President and CEO of Waterways Leisure Pvt Ltd, which operates Cordelia Cruises. “With the addition of Sky and Sun, we are entering a new era of cruise holidays for Indian guests — one that is bigger, bolder, and more immersive than ever before.”
Cordelia currently operates a single ship, Cordelia Empress, formerly Royal Caribbean’s Empress of the Seas. The addition of the two NCL ships — both known for their versatile itineraries, spacious designs, and wide range of onboard amenities — will more than double Cordelia’s current capacity and open the door to expanded regional cruising options, including longer sailings and more varied destinations across Asia and the Middle East.
