A 34-year-old Filipino crew member of the cruise ship "Mein Schiff 5" was evacuated by the Spanish Coast Guard on Tuesday evening due to medical emergency. The vessel was 54 miles from Palma de Mallorca when the ship's officers notified port authorities that a crew member had a heart attack, and was in need of urgent transfer to a hospital for further medical care.
Helicopter type Helimer 201 was dispatched by the "Salvamento Maritimo" marine rescue and the crew member was airlifted together with the ship's doctor who had accompanied him to the hospital. The patient was brought to the airport of Son Sant Joan, where the medical staff was waiting to take him to the clinic “Quirón Palma Planas”.
