The German Cruise Line Aida Cruises is planning a major event in Papenburg, for the christening ceremony of its latest cruise ship "Aida Nova". The new cruise ship, which can run on low-emission liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be christened on Friday, August 31, at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg and at the same time a live concert is scheduled with the iconic DJ David Guetta.

Starboard Cruise will operate shops on three key vessels in 2018, Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas and Carnival Horizon set to sail in April, and Celebrity Edge is due to float out in December this year.

A passenger on board the Norwegian Cruise Line ship, Norwegian Epic, was rescued after going overboard on Tuesday night, as the vessel sailed near the Bahamas. NCL has confirmed the incident saying that a female guest went over the rail and into the ocean. Crew rescue teams immediately responded to the emergency and lowered a life boat to search for the missing passenger around the ship.

The naming ceremony was held on Sunday in the port of Gran Canaria, where Nicole Langosch took command of the vessel.
