Coast Guard Medevacs Injured Crew Member from Anthem of the Seas

US Coast Guard performed a medical evacuation of a crew member from the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Anthem of the Seas. The incident was reported at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, two hours after the vessel departed from its homeport Cape Liberty, Bayonne. Coast Guard watch standers at a command center in Boston were notified by the ship's authorities that a 34-year-old man aboard the ship was experiencing severe leg pain.

Tropical storm Gordon affects Majesty of the Seas itinerary

Royal Caribbean cruise ship Majesty of the Seas delayed its departure from the Port of Tampa due to the Tropical storm Gordon. The plan of the current 5-night Western Caribbean voyage is Majesty of the Seas to stay away from the center of the tropical storm giving plenty of room to drop south behind it. The delayed departure will flip Itinerary but the ship will make it to Costa Maya and Cozumel.

Two Crew Members Reported Overboard From Explorer of the Sea

Two crew members from the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Explorer of the Seas went overboard last night near the port of Victoria, British Columbia. According to the reports ship’s Captain announced “Code Oscar” on the loudspeakers on Thursday evening at around 8:00 p.m. local time. Joint Rescue Coordination Centre reports that the crew was working on a lifeboat when they ended up in the water. Luckily they were wearing life vests and shortly after other boats joined the rescue operation.

Anti-tourism demonstrations in Spain - Royal Caribbean advises crew to stay out of harm’s way

Anti-Tourism activists in Spain have vowed to increase the protests in the region popular cruise destinations this summer because as they say over-tourism. Following recent developments, Royal Caribbean has issued an advisory letter warning its shipboard personnel to stay out of harm’s way. Here is the letter distributed by Royal Caribbean.

Royal Caribbean is buying Silversea Cruises for $1Billion

Royal Caribbean Cruises is buying a majority stake in luxury rival Silversea Cruises for $1 billion. The agreement was announced today by Royal Caribbean and majority owner of Silversea Manfredi Lefebvre D'Ovidio, to acquire a majority stake in the privately-owned Silversea Cruises. With this deal, worth $2 billion including debt, Royal Caribbean will take a 67 percent stake in Silversea Cruises.
