Royal Caribbean International has officially opened its first Royal Beach Club in Europe, bringing a new shore experience to the Greek island of Santorini.
The Royal Beach Club Santorini welcomed its first guests on April 27, when passengers from the Odyssey of the Seas arrived as part of a full-day excursion called the “Ultimate Santorini Day.” The experience combines visits to the island’s most famous towns with time at the new beach club located on the black sand shores of Vlychada.
The excursion begins with transportation across the island, giving guests the chance to explore both Oia and Fira. In Oia, visitors can walk along narrow paths lined with white buildings and blue domes overlooking the sea. The village is known for its views of the caldera and is one of the most photographed spots in Greece.
The tour then continues to Fira, the island’s capital, where guests can enjoy local cafés, browse small shops and galleries, and take in views from the cliffs above the Aegean Sea. The stop offers a more lively atmosphere, with plenty of time to relax and explore.
The day ends at the Royal Beach Club Santorini, where guests have access to a private beach setting. The club features sun loungers, umbrellas, towels, and Wi-Fi, along with wide views of the sea. Food and drinks are included, with options ranging from Greek dishes and buffets to snacks and frozen yogurt. Guests also receive a welcome drink, along with wine and draft beer.
Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, said Santorini remains one of the most popular destinations for the company’s guests. He added that the new beach club allows the cruise line to offer a more complete experience on the island.
Jason Liberty, chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, said the goal is to connect visitors with both the well-known sights and the local beach culture, creating a balanced day on the island.
With the opening of the Royal Beach Club Santorini, Royal Caribbean is expanding its beach club concept beyond the Caribbean, offering cruise passengers in Europe a new way to experience one of the region’s most iconic destinations.
