Submitted by kgnadmin on

Norwegian Cruise Line celebrated the delivery of the "Norwegian Viva," the second vessel in their innovative Prima Class. The vessel was officially handed over at the Fincanteiri shipyard in Marghera, marking a significant step forward in NCL's fleet expansion.

Together with her sister ships, the "Norwegian Viva" is set to become a cornerstone of NCL's future fleet. Boasting impressive specifications with a weight of 143,000 tons, a length of nearly 300 meters, and the capacity to host around 3,100 guests, these vessels represent a bold statement in the world of cruising. This delivery is part of NCL's comprehensive plan, with the remaining ships in the Prima Class series scheduled for delivery through 2028.

The Prima Class concept is a result of a collaboration with Fincantieri, who developed a groundbreaking prototype project. This design builds upon NCL's trademark principles of freedom and flexibility, while also introducing an innovative layout to elevate the passenger experience. Furthermore, the design prioritizes energy efficiency, aligning with modern regulations to minimize environmental impact and optimize consumption during voyages.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., the parent company of NCL, stands as a prominent player in the cruise industry, operating some of the most esteemed brands globally. Alongside NCL, the company oversees Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Oceania Cruises. Fincantieri, the shipbuilder responsible for delivering the Prima Class vessels, is also set to contribute to Regent Seven Seas Cruises with the imminent delivery of the Seven Seas Grandeur this year, following the successful launches of "Seven Seas Explorer" in 2016 and "Seven Seas Splendor" in 2020.

Since 2016, a strategic partnership between Fincantieri and Lloyd's Register has been established to collaborate with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. on a range of projects aimed at delivering the next generation ships, demonstrating a commitment to innovation and progress within the industry.

The "Norwegian Viva" is poised to embark on her maiden voyage through the Mediterranean and Greek Isles, commencing on August 10th. The vessel will set sail under the patronage of Grammy-nominated and five-time Latin Grammy winner, Luis Fonsi, who will serve as the ship's godfather. A grand naming ceremony is planned for November 28th at PortMiami, and subsequently, the ship will begin operating from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

While bearing a resemblance to the previous year's "Norwegian Prima," the "Norwegian Viva" introduces an exciting new addition to at-sea entertainment. Passengers will have the opportunity to experience the Tony Award-nominated production of 'Beetlejuice,' a stage adaptation of Tim Burton's iconic 1988 film. Moreover, the ship's evening entertainment lineup features "Press Your Luck Live," an immersive game show experience that brings the excitement of television game shows directly to the cruise experience, complete with opportunities for audience participation and winning prizes. This fresh and diverse entertainment offering underscores NCL's commitment to delivering exceptional experiences to its passengers.
