MSC Cruises crew has officially entered the Guinness World Records after assembling the longest line of LEGO ships aboard its newest vessel, MSC World America.
The record-breaking event took place during the ship’s transatlantic voyage from the shipyard in France to Miami, Florida, where it is scheduled for inauguration on April 12. More than 1,000 crew members, together with Captain Dino Sagani, built and aligned the LEGO ships, creating an 89-meter-long display stretching the length of the World Galleria on Deck 6, from stern to bow.
Each LEGO ship took approximately five minutes to assemble, totaling an estimated 7,000 minutes—or 116 hours—of effort by MSC Cruises’ dedicated crew. Once completed, the full record-breaking line was assembled in under two hours under the supervision of an official Guinness World Records adjudicator to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
LEGO Certified Professional Caspar Bennedsen, who oversaw the achievement, expressed his excitement:
“We did it! Together with the incredible team and crew aboard MSC World America, we have officially set a Guinness World Record. The world’s longest line of LEGO ships—achieved in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean—this is truly remarkable!”
This accomplishment is part of MSC Cruises’ broader entertainment partnership with LEGO and Guinness World Records. The cruise line introduced an onboard program last year that allows passengers to participate in official record-breaking challenges, such as speed rope throwing and chair rotation competitions. To date, MSC Cruises guests and crew have collectively achieved 40 Guinness World Records.
Steve Leatham, MSC Cruises’ Vice President of Entertainment, highlighted the company’s commitment to innovative experiences, stating, “Our team is dedicated to elevating onboard entertainment. We collaborate with some of the world’s top entertainment brands to create unique and engaging experiences for our guests.”
Matteo Mancini, MSC Cruises’ Director of Family Entertainment Development, added that MSC World America will feature three weekly, multi-generational Guinness World Records experiences, as well as the cruise industry’s first-ever LEGO Parade and LEGO Playground Competition.
“Our goal is to create immersive and unforgettable entertainment programs for guests of all ages,” Mancini said.
