Disney Cruise Line recently shared a video featuring Cruise Director Lee Hawkins inviting viewers to witness a defining moment in the life of the line’s newest and largest ship—the Disney Adventure. Speaking from the ship itself, Hawkins walks us through the Float Out ceremony.
“This is a huge milestone in the life of a cruise ship,” Hawkins says with excitement. “For the very first time, Disney Adventure touched water and floated out of the covered building dock where she’s been under construction. Watching her emerge into the sunlight for the first time was absolutely magical.”
The Float Out took place on April 19, 2025, at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Wismar, Germany. With a gross tonnage of 208,000, the Disney Adventure is set to become Disney Cruise Line’s first ship based in Asia, with a maiden voyage from Singapore on December 15, 2025.
As one of the ship’s Cruise Directors, Hawkins expressed his excitement not only about the Float Out itself but also about what lies ahead. “It’s the first step toward bringing Disney Adventure to guests around the world,” he explains. “From here, work continues to outfit the interiors and bring all the enchantment onboard that guests expect from Disney Cruise Line.”
Once completed, the Disney Adventure will feature many innovations—including the longest roller coaster at sea, immersive themed dining, and cutting-edge entertainment experiences designed to captivate guests of all ages.
Hawkins signs off with a message full of anticipation: “I can’t wait to welcome families aboard and share all the incredible experiences we have in store. Stay tuned—there’s so much more to come!”
