Two Killed While Scrapping The Carnival Inspiration In Turkey

Two workers have lost their lives at the shipbreaking yards of Aliaga, Turkey, during the dismantling of the former Carnival cruise ship, Carnival Inspiration. The NGO Shipbreaking Platform in a press release reported that the fatal accident took place on July 12, when the workers were suddenly caught by flames in the engine room.

The crew community was hit hard by the pandemic no only during the lockdown of the cruise industry keeping thousands of crew members stranded on the ships, but also once they all returned back home.  Every day we hear that some of our fellow shipmates has passed away.

Beirut Deadly Explosion sinks Orient Queen cruise ship, killing one crew member another reported missing

The cruise ship Orient Queen, owned by the Lebanese cruise line Abu Merhi Cruises, sank in the port of Beirut after being hit by one of the biggest non-nuclear explosions in human history. The ship which was about 300 meters from the explosion site was badly damaged and all efforts to save it were in vain. Expressing their deepest condolences Abu Merhi Cruises said the deadly explosion killed one crew member and one is still missing.

Indonesian Crew Member Goes Overboard From CMV Cruise Ship

A crew member has reportedly gone overboard from the cruise ship Vasco da Gama operated by Cruise and Maritime  Voyages. According to a fellow crew member wishing to remain anonymous, the incident happen yesterday around 4 pm while the cruise ship was docked at the port of  Tilbury, London. Our source says that the crew member tried to take his own life by jumping from the ship’s deck 12. He fell on top of a cargo container that was placed on the dock, next to the cruise ship.

Filipino Crew Member Found Dead in His Cabin on Aida Cruise Ship

The crew community grieves the terrible loss of one more cruise ship crew member. Today we lost a young and talented colleague on the German cruise ship Aida Blu, docked in the port of Hamburg. The crew member was found dead in his cabin by his fellow team mates. According to reports, the deceased crew member is a Filipino national from Guihulngan City in the province of Negros Oriental. He was working in the Galley department on Aida Cruises ships. The death is not Covid-19 related

Crew Member Goes Overboard from Regal Princess

A terrible tragedy has struck the crew community with the loss of one more crew member today. We received a message that e crew member went overboard from the cruise ship Regal Princess docked at the port of Rotterdam, Holland. Our source says that the female crew member from Ukraine took her own life, adding that she was scheduled to return home on a charter flight which was later canceled.

Crew Member Reportedly Commits Suicide on Carnival Breeze

A team member on Carnival Cruise Line ship reportedly took his own life today during his final voyage before the repatriation back to his home country. The 29-year-old crew member from Hungary was found dead in his cabin on the cruise ship Carnival Breeze. He had been working as a shore excursion assistant manager for Carnival for the past 3 years.
