Sydney Residents and visitors have stormed the harbor on weekends to enjoy the Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth. The two Cunard liners have meet again as hundreds of sailboats and yachts accompanied the vessels at the harbor entrance. Thousands of people were standing along the shores to accompany the Royal Rendezvous. The celebrations took place nearly 10 years after the premiere of the flagship of Cunard Line in Sydney - a double run of the Queen Mary 2 with the now decommissioned Queen Elizabeth 2.
To celebrate the day, Cunard captain Christopher Wells was honored to climb the roof of Sydney's world-famous opera house. Queen Mary 2 is on her 118-day world voyage while Queen Elizabeth is on a 120-day world tour.
David Culard, Vice President of International Development, said in his speech that the Australian Cunard passenger numbers had dramatically increased in the past decade: "Australia is now the number two in world travel at Cunard, so we have for our queens in the 2018 and 2019 timetables, longer stays and more appeals in Australia.”
