Hi, my name is Luis. I`m from Aguascalientes, Mexico and, I want to write something that maybe a lot of my fellow colleagues crew members can identify.

I start working on cruises 2 years ago on Celebrity cruises , at that time I have a restaurant but I was looking always for something else, and that else, was a dream I have since little about working on a cruise ship, It all start with a roomie back in Madrid who used to work for Royal Caribbean for several years and I contact her , asking for the contact in Mexico, anyway, I got the interviews in Guadalajara Mexico with them and I passed, after that the people directly from Royal Caribbean interview me and I get the job ( by the way, the guy who interview me in Mexico to give the job , I serve him on my last cruise of my last contract, funny eh!) anyway, all of this is because of what?. Just like me and like many people who are working in a ship (very hard workers)  we don’t want to be all the life working for someone else , that`s why I open my eyes during this 2 years , to take advantage of this kind of job as a bar server, bartender, public relations, seller, psychologist , friend in compliance etc. to  every people I meet to the other side of the bar counter and that was very encouraging and enriching. I meet and talk with people who owns a lot of major companies in Europe and USA and you can see that despite everything that you can heard about millionaires or powerful people in business, they are like me and you, just with a different mentality and guts to start something.

The t-shirt business that I`m going to talk about came out by the idea of a huge Brazilian family who was traveling in a 11 days Mediterranean cruise that we do, they have to almost every port of call a different t-shirt, and they were excited to be part of something in family, then I realize that people can be very enthusiastic with the idea to come to a cruise for a holiday, and that its not a regular holiday because they planned in advance not as any vacation, it takes time and more time and money to make everything perfect, and I remember my days before joining to work ( I was so freaking excited just to see the place that It was going to be my home for the next 7 months of course, but , I didn’t have a t-shirt on me to express it that would be cool) , so, that was the first glance, then I was in Mykonos with a friend from the ship and we were in this store of custom made t-shirts , I was amazed of how much people buy those. Good quality and fresh designs on a perfect place. 

A year later in my second contract, the Atlantis cruise (gay cruise) took place on my ship and not only for the costumes and excitement of all guest but also they have funny quotes printed on their t-shirts, that I can see that they were homemade designs, so that’s why little by little came with the idea with my expertise on graphic design and sales, and ecommerce to finish up to put it all together. 

A crucial meeting were in the casino where I used to work that I meet a young , very simple and easy going guy, he love to just stay in front of the slot machines with a Heineken beer every 5 minutes he was the owner of a major t-shirt company on Florida in a cruise during the west Mediterranean and he told me his story and he was very open on sharing ideas and things about the business, that’s when I knew that I have a great niche of opportunity, so that´s when KRAZY CRUISE came out!.

I start developing it on December 2015 with a lot of work for just one guy. To make a webpage and designs, its not an very easy task and one week ago, with a basic functionality I open the store, one thing to have in mind and that this guy from Florida told me was that  “Rome wasn’t build in a day” so,  little by little everyone who visit the store can see improvements cos I know its not perfect now but it will be with your help and preference, the important thing is that you like the idea, and the designs with fresh, cool and modern stuff that you can actually want to wear and the funny side of the cruising lifestyle, even if you are a guest or a crew member and  I make all of this thinking about  how much you can feel identified with the t-shirts.

I must say that as a crew member I saw that there`s a whole different kind of life, the matter of living inside of a ship getting along with 65 different nationalities, each one with different thinking and way to speak and that you as a Mexican, Croatian, Brazilian, embrace a word of a Jamaican as a everyday slang, BOMBOCLATTTTT its priceless!!! That’s the beauty of open your mind to live in a place like that well, besides, hang out in crew bar, visit extraordinary places that you never imagine, and so on!!!
