German authorities have launched an investigation into an incident involving the cruise ship Mein Schiff 4, which reportedly entered a restricted area in the Baltic Sea. The incident occurred on September 5th during the vessel's eastbound journey from Kiel to the Polish port city of Gdynia, passing through the Fehmarnbelt.

A terrifying incident unfolded at the port of Salerno, Italy, on October 3rd, when an 8-year-old boy narrowly escaped a tragic fate. The boy had disembarked from a cruise ship with his family at the Salerno Maritime Station, when a simple and innocent moment turned into a terrifying ordeal when the young boy slipped and fell into the water in the small gap separating the dock from the ship.

MSC Sinfonia Breaks Mooring and Damages Marina in Syracuse

Gale force winds of up to 50 knots broke the mooring lines of the cruise ship MSC Sinfonia while the vessel was anchored at the port of Syracuse, Italy. The incident occurred on Saturday, 6th January 2024, causing the giant cruise ship to collide with other boats moored at the Marina and one of the docks of the Foro Italico. With the collision, MSC Sinfonia is reported to have sunk two boats, and caused damage to other yachts, and to the marina.

Iceland Releases Report on Norwegian Prima Near-Miss Grounding

The Iceland Transportation Accident Investigation Committee released a report on last year's near-miss grounding involving the 140,000-ton cruise ship Norwegian Prima at the port of Reykjavík. According to the report, the Norwegian Prima drifted outside the navigable channel and came within 10 meters of rocks after the vessel experienced winds in excess of 50 knots.

Cruise ship hits pier in Turkey

The cruise ship Celestyal Journey hit the pier at the port of Kusadasi, Turkey while the attempt to dock went wrong.
The incident took place around noon on Monday, April 15, when the vessel, measuring nearly 220 meters, approached the dock too quickly. 
Despite the crew's efforts to deploy the anchor, the ship was unable to slow down sufficiently, leading to a collision with the concrete structure with its bow bulb. Fortunately, no injuries were reported either onboard or onshore, and only caused minor damage to both the ship and the dock structure.
