
A maritime rescue was performed 100 miles off the coast of Tenerife on Sunday March 23, as the Helimer 202 helicopter successfully evacuated a crew member from the luxury cruise ship Seabourn Venture.
The emergency operation was coordinated by the Maritime Rescue Centre in Tenerife, which swiftly mobilized resources after receiving an alert from the vessel. Responding to the distress call, the rescue team was deployed to conduct an urgent medical evacuation.
Upon reaching the ship, the Helimer 202 crew hoisted the injured crew member onboard before transporting them directly to Doctor Negrín Hospital in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. According to reports from Tenerife Weekly, the evacuation was completed at approximately 08:40 local time.
Authorities have not disclosed the identity, nationality, or specific medical condition of the crew member. The circumstances leading to the medical emergency also remain unclear.
The Seabourn Venture operated by Seabourn Cruises, was sailing north of Tenerife at the time of the incident.
