Brazilian law enforcement agencies have arrested six drug smugglers and confiscated about 30 kilos of cocaine at the port of Santos. A young cruise ship crew member has been reported missing in the war-torn city of Mariupol. Family and friends are searching for the 26-year-old Anatoly Burma, who went missing on March 2. He is a crew working for the Italian cruise company Costa Cruises as an assistant bartender. Anatoly completed his contract and returned back to Ukraine on February 20, and arrived in Mariupol on February 22, just two days before the invasion of Ukraine started.
Costa Cruises is offering one of its cruise ships to house Ukrainian refugees fleeing the Russian invasion of their country. The company offered the cruise ship Costa Magica, which is currently out of service, to the Italian government as a potential hosing vessel for the Ukrainian refugees, if the number of refugees arriving in Italy increases in the coming weeks.
Costa Cruises' newest flagship Costa Toscana departed from Savona on her maiden voyage. Costa Toscana first 7-night cruise will sail to Marseille, Barcelona, Valencia, Palermo and Civitavecchia (Rome), and this program will run until the end of April 2022.
After two months of voluntary suspension of operations, cruise ships will finally resume sailings in Brazil. Clia Brazil announced on Wednesday the resumption of the cruise season starting on March 5. The rest of the season will feature 19 itineraries and will run through April 18, while the 2022/23 season will officially start in October 2022. Last week, Brazil Ministry of Health released a document allowing cruise ships to resume sailings on March 7.
