Coast Guard medevacs crew member from Carnival Valor

The U.S. Coast Guard executed a medical evacuation of a 29-year-old female crew member from the cruise ship Carnival Valor. The crew member was medevacked on Saturday evening as the ship was sailing on the Mississippi River near Port Sulphur, Louisiana. 

Watchstanders at New Orleans Coast Guard Sector received a call at approximately 7:10 p.m. from the cruise ship requesting urgen medical assitance for a crewmember in need of immediate medical care.

Sector New Orleans coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew to assist. The helicopter arrived on the scene and hoisted the crewmember which was later transported to West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, Louisiana. 

The crewmember was last reported to be in stable condition. No further details of the crew member's medical condition or nationality were released.
