Carnival Vista Returns to St. Thomas After Crew Member Sustains Leg Injury

Submitted by kgnadmin on

Carnival Vista crew member sustained an injury on Thursday, forcing the cruise ship to make an unexpected return to St. Thomas shortly after departing.

The incident occurred after the cruise ship left Charlotte Amalie, where it had been docked since 7 a.m. Instead of continuing its scheduled itinerary, Carnival Vista turned back to the West Indian Company (WICO) dock to allow the injured crew member to receive medical attention on land.

According to Mark Sabino, director of marine and cruise services at WICO, the crew member suffered a fall that may have resulted in a broken leg. The full extent of the injury was not immediately disclosed.

After the crew member was safely transferred for treatment, the ship departed again at 8 p.m. Thursday, resuming its journey. The ship’s original schedule included two days at sea, Friday and Saturday, before disembarking passengers at Port Canaveral, Florida, on Sunday morning.

We extend our best wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured crew member.
