Burst Pipe Floods Cabins Aboard MSC Seaview

A burst pipe aboard MSC Seaview flooded several guest cabins and a corridor on Monday, January 12, 2026, while the ship was sailing from Búzios to Salvador, according to local reports.

Photos and videos shared on social media showed water in cabin areas and along interior corridors. Some passengers that crew members informed guests a pressurized water pipe had burst on the ship, leading to water entering accommodation spaces. Some guests were temporarily moved to a bar area on one of the ship’s decks during the cleanup.

MSC Cruises said the leak involved a pipe that is part of the ship’s fire safety system, and that the ship’s technical teams resolved the issue and cleaned affected areas.

“A leak was identified in a water pipe that is part of the ship's fire safety system, resulting in water entering some guest cabins and a common area corridor. The problem was quickly resolved by our technical teams, and all affected areas underwent thorough cleaning. Guests were promptly assisted, and at no time was there any risk to their safety. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to our guests.”

The company said the problem was resolved in about two hours.
