P&O Cruises newest ship Arvia is a step closer to delivery, as the vessel is scheduled for her conveyance from the Meyer Werft shipyard to the sea. According to Meyer shipyard, Arvia will start her transfer to the North Sea this Saturday and will pass the dock lock in Papenburg at around 7 a.m.

The "Arvia" will be transferred to the North Sea with the support of two tugs. The Waterways and Shipping Administration has announced that the Ems river barrier will be completely closed for traffic on Friday at around 8.30 a.m. The conveyance completion is scheduled for Monday when the cruise ship will arrive in Eemshaven, Netherlands. After technical and nautical tests, the ship will then set course for Bremerhaven for later delivery to P&O Cruises.

Meyer Werft has announced the following schedule to the Emspassage, which can be postponed in short notice depending on the weather and tide conditions:

Among the many features aboard will be the Grand Atrium, a concept first introduced aboard Iona with uninterrupted panoramic views of the sea, framed by glazed walls stretching 3-decks high, and the SkyDome, a new entertainment area on the top two levels capped by a glass-domed roof.

The ship is due for delivery in December this year, setting sail on her inaugural voyage from Southampton to the Canary Islands before starting her Caribbean winter season.
