Nicole Langosch age 34, has been named captain of the cruise ship AIDAsol, becoming the first female master in the AIDA Cruises fleet. The naming ceremony was held on Sunday in the port of Gran Canaria, where Nicole Langosch took command of the vessel. After ten years working for Aida, she will be responsible for 2200 passengers and 630 crew.

When she became second in command five years ago, she knew she wanted to take that last step as well. "I'm proud to have achieved that." 

"I am direct and purposeful and have very clear ideas of how things should go." She does not want to make any misunderstandings - without offending people. At the same time, she attaches great importance to teamwork, for example, there is a ship's council where important decisions are discussed. "But the last decision I make." Whether this is the order to avoid a bad weather area or to gently lay the 253 meter long ocean liner on a quay wall.

Nicole Langosch was born in Osterode in the Harz and grew up in Herborn in Hesse. She completed her nautical studies in Leer. During her subsequent studies of logistics she was for a container shipping company in Oakland (New Zealand) and worked for the EU Parliament in Brussels. Langosch completed her first nautical internship on a container ship. For ten years she has been working in various positions on the Aida ships.

The 253-meter-long and 32-meter-wide Aida-Sol is one of 12 ships in the Aida fleet and currently on the road between the Canary Islands and Madeira. Aida Cruises currently employs 14 female nautical officers aboard its fleet.
