Last night, a crew member went overboard from the cruise ship MSC Seascape. The vessel was sailing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic when the man-overboard signal was sounded on the ship’s PA system.

Our source reported that the crew member involved in the incident is a Mauritian national employed as a Hotel Cleaner. Around 9 pm, MSC Seascape officers initiated a slowdown of the vessel and announced the MOB signal. The vessel came to a halt in the waters off the coast of Puerto Rico, and a search and rescue operation commenced, involving Coast Guard ships, a search and rescue helicopter, and MSC Seascape lifeboats were lowered into the sea.

Coast Guard ships have been deployed on the scene, and a search and rescue helicopter is covering the area. “We hope they are successful, but it feels very bleak on this dark and moonless night,” our source said 

After several hours, another announcement was made that the ship will continue its voyage, and the USCG will continue the search operations.

MSC Seascape is currently sailing on a 7 Nights Eastern Caribbean Cruise. The ship departed from Miami, Florida, on November 11th, with stops in Nassau, Bahamas (November 12th), San Juan, Puerto Rico (November 14th), Puerto Plata/Amber Cove, Dominican Republic (November 15th), and Ocean Cay, Bahamas (November 17th, 0800-2000), before returning to Miami on November 18th.
