According to CDC official report, 86 guests out of 1,843 and 18 crew members reported gastrointestinal symptoms during the current voyage. In response to the outbreak, Oostergdam crew is executing the following actions: Increased cleaning and disinfection procedures in all public areas with Microbac and Bleach, according to their OPP (outbreak prevention and response plan). Collecting specimens from infected passenger and crew for testing, Reporting twice daily of the number of gastrointestinal illness cases to Vessel Sanitation Program. Consulting with CDC on plans for their sanitation procedures when guests disembark in Tampa, FL, on November 18, 2016.
In order to conduct an environmental health assessment, CDC health officer and an epidemiologist will board MS Oosterdam, when the cruise ship arrives in Tampa, Florida, on November 18, 2016.
