Royal Caribbean human resources representatives led by RCCL Crew Management Inc. Manager Ronald De Guzman are in the Philippines for recruiting of a significant number of cruise ship employees. Following the orientation held on September 20 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center Gymnasium, regarding job opportunities in the cruise industry, the final recruiting will be held on October 13 and 14
The two-day recruitment drive will be undertaken by RCCL Crew Management Inc. at the Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) located at the Capitol Complex in Lingayen. PESO chief Alex F. Ferrer said recruitment of seafarers will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on October 13 and from 9 a.m. to 12 noon the next day. Executives of RCCL were in Pangasinan two days ago to arrange the recruitment activity with Governor Amado Espino III and PESO.
This is a long-term strategy for hiring more Filipino crew members which Royal Caribbean chair and chief executive officer Richard Fain, announced last year.
The company currently employs around 11.000 Filipino crew members working on board the world’s largest cruise ships (which is about a third of the total Royal Caribbean workforce). With new ships coming in the following years RCCL plans to hire up to 30.000 Pinoy crew.
Royal Caribbean Cruises is already operating a training facility in Maragondon Cavite, Philippines, managed by PHILCAMSAT – which is able to train up to 2000 crew members each month.
Some of the open positions for the cruise line are bakers, butchers, Chef De Partie-Baker, Chef De Partie-Butcher, Chef De Partie-Garde Manager, Chef De Partie-Suchie, Commis, Head Baker, Pastry Sous Chef, Sushi Cook, Pantry Chef, Pantry Cook and Pastry Cooks.
The company also needs lifeguards which they implemented recently. and a laundry attendants for housekeeping, hotel storekeepers, provision storekeepers and technical storekeeper.
Likewise in demand are 3rd assistant repairman, artistic painter, assistant electrician, assistant refrigerator engineer, filter repairman, filter turner, incinerator operator, mechanic, motorman, plumber, repairman, upholster, varnisher and wiper.
