Royal Caribbean Group announced that Richard Fain, the long-serving Chairman of the Board, will step down from his role in the fourth quarter of 2025. Fain, who has chaired the Board since 1988 and is credited with shaping much of the modern cruise industry, will remain involved with the company as a Director on the Board.
Stepping into the role of Chairman will be current President and CEO Jason Liberty, who has led Royal Caribbean Group since January 2022. The Board of Directors has unanimously elected Liberty to become both Chairman and CEO, a move that signals continuity and confidence in the company’s future leadership.
“Richard’s leadership has been transformational,” Liberty said. “It’s an honor to follow in his footsteps, and I’m excited to continue delivering exceptional vacation experiences for our guests and long-term value for our shareholders.”
Fain expressed confidence in Liberty, stating, “It’s time to hand over the wheel to the next generation. Jason’s leadership has already been outstanding, and I believe Royal Caribbean Group is in the best hands for its next chapter.”
The company also announced that John Brock, a Board member since 2014 and a seasoned executive with experience at Coca-Cola Enterprises and InBev, has assumed the position of Independent Lead Director.
Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, congratulated Liberty and honoring Fain’s decades of service. “It’s a great continuation of leadership for RCL,” Bayley said.
