Great news for all passengers sailing on board Royal Caribbean cruise ships. Starting this month on all swimming pools lifeguards will be in charge for the safety of the passengers. By adding this safety feature Royal Caribbean will become the second cruise line to employ lifeguards.
The news was already released a few months ago, however, this was officially confirmed beginning with this weekend aboard Oasis of the Seas you will notice their presence. The lifeguards aboard the Royal Caribbean fleet will be trained in partnership with the Florida-based company, Star Guard Elite. With their white and red uniforms, they will be on guard at every pool starting from the opening hours and during the entire day at every pool. As part of the safety and awareness program, the passengers will be offered on embarkation day an info session on the risks and dangers and security in the water during the Open House Adventure Ocean.
With employing lifeguards, Royal Caribbean joins Disney Cruise Lines which added this safety feature back in 2013, after a near-drowning on one of their ships. All other cruise lines have a policy where guests swim in ship’s pools at their own risk.
