The cruise ship Caribbean Princess lost propulsion and was adrift for nine hours on the Irish Sea with 4,000 passengers onboard. The news was first published by Cruise Law News web site and several passengers commented on social networks about the ships current status. Princess Cruises released several tweets regarding the propulsion problems saying that the ship lost propulsion 25 nautical miles southeast of Dublin in the Irish Sea. All on board are safe and secure and Princess fleet technical experts are working together with the ship’s Captain and Chief Engineer to resolve the problem. Helicopters and tug boat from Anglesey were called to assist. Latest update by the company is that the ship has restored power in the propulsion system. Due to lost time the ship will skip the visit to Dublin and is sailing to Belfast. Mike Johnson, passenger onboard Caribbean Princess wrote on his Facebook profile “After 10 hours of wallowing in the Irish Sea a tug turns up to rescue us just as they fix the problem. On our way to Belfast under our own steam.”

Caribbean Princes is on 12 days British Isles voyage starting from Southampton, England on 31 July to Guernsey, Channel Islands - Cork, Ireland - Dublin, Ireland - Belfast, Northern Ireland - Greenock (Glasgow), Scotland - Kirkwall, Scotland - Invergordon, Scotland - Edinburgh, Scotland - Le Havre (Paris), France and Southampton, England on 12 August.
