Police Arrest Man After Robbing a Cruise Passenger in Port of Spain

A man has been arrested by Trinidad and Tobago Police following the robbery of a cruise ship passenger in the bustling streets of Port of Spain. The incident occurred around 11:35 am on February 28, when a couple, passengers of the cruise ship ‘Emerald Princess’, were targeted in a brazen theft.

The victims, a husband and wife enjoying their time ashore, were walking along Charlotte Street when a male assailant forcefully snatched a gold chain from the woman’s neck. The suspect then fled the scene, running from Charlotte Street onto Queen Street, sparking a quick response from local law enforcement.

Two officers, who were conducting foot patrol in the area, were alerted to the robbery. Demonstrating prompt action, they pursued the suspect, successfully apprehending him at the corner of Queen and George Streets. The arrested individual was then transferred to the custody of the Central Police Station, where further investigations are underway.

The TTPS has assured both locals and visitors that safety remains a top priority. In light of the recent incident, police have reiterated their commitment to maintaining a visible presence throughout the capital city. Officers from the Port of Spain Division, along with the Capital City Patrol Unit, will continue to conduct both foot and mobile patrols, aiming to deter criminal activity and ensure the safety of all citizens and tourists.
