NCL’s Next Cruise Ship To Be Named Norwegian Encore

Submitted by kgnadmin on

The fourth member of the Norwegian Cruise Line Breakaway Plus family will be called Norwegian Encore. This was announced today by Andy Stuart, president and chief executive officer for Norwegian Cruise Line, during the steel-cutting at Meyer-Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. With 169,000 tones, 333.5 meters long and 41.5 meters wide, Encore will be able to carry up to 3,998 passengers. The shipyard, Meyer Werft, will have 18 months to build Norwegian Encore, which is scheduled to make its maiden voyage in November 2019 from Miami, Florida.

"We're always learning from the experience of other ships of this class," commented Andy Stuart. "There will be minor changes, adjustments, and improvements, but it is more related to our experience than to the destination itself," he said when asked about differences in the project compared to Bliss, which will sail to Alaska.

With the launch of Norwegian Encore NCL will have 17 ships in the fleet. The Breakaway Plus class vessels are the fourth largest cruise ships in the world after Royal Caribbean Oasis-Class, MSC Meraviglia-Class and Royal Caribbean Quantum-Class.
