MSC Cruises has officially announced the name of its fourth World Class vessel: MSC World Atlantic. The reveal came as the first steel was cut at Chantiers de l'Atlantique, marking the start of production for the highly anticipated ship. The event also coincided with the delivery of MSC World America and the coin ceremony for MSC World Asia, which is set to debut in late 2026.
The ceremony was attended by key figures from the cruise and shipbuilding industries, including MSC Group founder and chairman Gianluigi Aponte, MSC Cruises Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago, Chantiers de l'Atlantique General Manager Laurent Castaing, and France’s Minister of Industry and Energy Marc Ferracci. MSC Cruises remains one of the shipyard’s most significant clients, with the World Class series ensuring a strong order book through 2027.
With MSC World Atlantic, the World Class series will conclude its run. The lineup began with MSC World Europa in 2022, followed by MSC World America—delivered during the same ceremony—and MSC World Asia, scheduled for a December 2026 debut. Beyond this, MSC Cruises currently has no additional orders or options with Chantiers de l'Atlantique, signaling a potential shift in the company’s future shipbuilding strategy.
While bookings for MSC World Atlantic have not yet opened, MSC Cruises has confirmed its deployment. Starting in the winter 2027/28 season, the vessel will homeport in Port Canaveral, Florida, offering seven-night Caribbean itineraries. This move strengthens MSC’s presence in the North American market, complementing MSC World America, which is expected to continue its Miami-based Caribbean operations.
