After 22 years in service, Royal Caribbean cruise ship Legend of the Seas has retired. The vessel arrived at Navantia shipyard in Cadiz, Spain on March 26, where it will be refurbished and rebranded as TUI Discovery 2 for Thomson Cruises. With the Legend of the Seas, Royal Caribbean International said farewell from the oldest vessel of the popular Vision Class ship.
Legend of the Seas departed on its final voyage from Dubai on March 14, across the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean until it reaches its destination, Barcelona.
Back in 1995 when the ship was launched this was the first Royal Caribbean vessel designed for cruising outside the Caribbean, and during all the years Legend of the Seas has sailed to destinations such as Asia, Australia and New Zealand, the South Pacific, Alaska, Central America, the Caribbean, the Baltic, the Mediterranean and the Middle East.
Bellow is a video of the farewell ceremony held on March 23.
