The French President, Emmanuel Macron will attend the inauguration of the latest MSC cruise liner named MSC Meraviglia. The ceremony will be held today May 31, at STX Shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The head of state, accompanied by the Minister of Economy, Bruno Le Maire, will attend the delivery of the "MSC Meraviglia", announced on Tuesday evening the Elysee Palace. This is not the first time Emmanuel Macron has made the trip to STX construction site. He was already present on 1 February 2016 as Minister of Economy for the coin ceremony of MSC Meraviglia.
Official Christening of the massive 167,000gt ship will be on June 3, in Le Havre by the godmother Sophia Loren. This corresponds with the 500th anniversary of the city of Le Havre.
Stretching 315 meters in length, 43 meters at the beam and 65 meters high, MSC Meraviglia has 2,244 passenger cabins. At full capacity, it can accommodate 5,714 guests and 1,540 crew members. MSC Meraviglia's sister ship, MSC Bellissima, is also being built at STX Shipyard and is scheduled for delivery in spring 2019. MSC Cruises will have two additional ships from Meraviglia-Plus class (with 200 additional cabins) by the end of 2020.
