Princess Cruises and the Italian shipyard Fincantieri held a ceremony to mark the completion of the bow of Sky Princess. This ship will be the fourth unit belonging to the Royal class and will debut in October 2019 in a series of itineraries in the Mediterranean.
Ship’s bow, which is 130 meters long, 43 wide, approximately 25 high and weighs about 7,600 tons, will be transported by sea to Monfalcone (Italy) where it will be assembled with the rest of the construction build by Fincantieri.
When completed Sky Princess, will weigh 143,700 tons and transport 3,660 passengers, will have an evolution of the successful design platform used for the previous Royal class ships: Royal Princess, Regal Princess, and Majestic Princess. The new vessel will include features that have become synonymous with the best experience of the brand.
"The construction process is truly wonderful and every milestone completed is a reason to celebrate," said Rai Caluori, executive vice president and responsible for onboard experience and product development for Princess Cruises. "With our Partner Fincantieri, we launched the Sky Princess's bow section uniquely, in which a large number of human resources will be invested."
The inaugural cruise, which will start in October 2019 will run combined seven days, through the Mediterranean and the Adriatic, departing from Athens and ending in Barcelona.
