Drone Images Reveal Trail Left by Norwegian Viva in Volos

Recent drone footage captured in the port of Volos has sparked debate after the departure of the cruise ship Norwegian Viva. The images, taken by Tasos Triantafyllou of Tasos T. Aerial Drone Photography and published by gegonota.news, show a stark trail of murky, brownish water left behind the massive vessel as it sailed through the clear blue sea.

The striking discoloration has led to mixed reactions online. Some social media users jokingly referred to it as a "farewell gift," implying that the ship may have released waste into the water. Others, however, argued that the plume was simply sediment stirred up by the ship’s powerful propellers as it navigated through the harbor. Large ships like the Norwegian Viva can churn up sand and silt from the seabed, especially in shallow waters.

Local officials have yet to comment on whether they will investigate the incident. Meanwhile, the viral images have reignited discussions about the ecological footprint of massive cruise ships and the need for stricter monitoring in busy ports.
