The U.S. Coast Guard medevaced a 47-year-old crew member from a Princess cruise ship this morning.
The rescue operation was initiated when Ruby Princess, was approximately 9 miles southwest of Point Loma, San Diego, California. The bridge contacted San Diego Coast Guard on Friday at 11:35 p.m., reporting that a male crew member was experiencing heart attack symptoms. According to the Coast Guard report, on duty flight surgeon recommended that the crew member be medevac and send to hospital for emergency care. USCG San Diego Sector launched the rescue operation at 1 a.m., by sending medical team with MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter. The man was transferred to UCSD Health - Hillcrest Hospital in San Diego. Ruby Princess departed from Los Angeles on 22 September, on a 4-day West Coast Getaway with Catalina Island.
