Valparaiso Southern Metropolitan Prosecutor ordered the review of the case involving the disappearance of the Chilean chef Favio Oñate onboard Cunard’s ship Queen Mary 2 in August 2015.

Queen Mary 2 will dock in Valparaiso on Wednesday, when the measures requested by the prosecution to clarify the disappearance of Oñate will be conducted.

The order was issued at the harbormaster, to locate and take statements from the captain of the cruise ship Queen Mary 2 and other crew members who witnessed or become aware of anything at the day of the incident.

The Police Special Investigations Brigade and Crime Laboratory (Lacrim) will review the recordings performed the cruise ship security cameras on August 15 2015.

The father of the missing crew member, filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office revealing new information about the disappearance of his son.

The new information’s have been obtained from written communications with some crew members who were witnesses and face the facts.

According to these testimonies, the night Favio disappeared he had been drinking at the crew bar with another unidentified crew member.

Favio then entered a bathroom and exited with a "strange" behavior, "as if something unusual had happened."

After behaving inconsistently and erratically for a few minutes, Oñate went overboard.

The unidentified crew member left the cruise ship in the first port immediately after the incident. 

Upon todays arrival Queen Mary 2, Favio Oñate family and friends, will demonstrate in front of the port of Valparaiso.
