In a recent U.S.P.H. inspection conducted on November 26, 2017, Celebrity Cruises ship, Celebrity Eclipse earned perfect 100 points. The 122,000-ton cruise ship was returning from a Caribbean voyage to its homeport Miami, Florida when the unannounced inspection was conducted. CDC inspectors boarded the Eclipse and after several hours the cruise ship received a perfect score of 100 points with compliments to all crew for their amazing and hard work. This is significant acknowledgment due to the fact that Celebrity Eclipse has always scored more than 90 points in the last 7 years, making it one of the cleanest and safest ships.
Nobody can imagine the crew member's proud smile on their face when the results were announced by the vessels PA system. All 1500 crew and staff members on board Eclipse have worked very hard, especially on the night before the turnaround, and they need to be recognized accordingly.
In order for a ship, to earn a 100 score, it needs to receive perfect marks on all 44 items that comprise the U.S.P.H.’s comprehensive Vessel Sanitation Program checklist. The unannounced inspections, which are conducted twice a year and required for any cruise ship with an international itinerary calling at U.S. port.
